Not water tight will sink

Bought this to go on an overnight camping adventure, only had to paddle 2 miles to the island after about 1/4 mile the cooler started to sink had to pull it up on the kayak, got to the campsite and pulled the lid off the picture below shows the watertight “seal” that leaked.
